Zurich Financial Services Group announced the appointment of Brandon S. Mathews, a 37year-old American, to the newly created position of Head of Microinsurance as of June 1, 2007.
He assumes responsibility for “implementing the Group-wide initiative to identify and refine microinsurance best practices and to export those solutions around the world, said the announcement.
Mathews reports to Patrick O’Sullivan, Zurich’s Chief Growth Officer, John Amore, CEO General Insurance, and Peter Buomberger, Group Head of Government and Industry Affairs. He will be located in Zurich, Switzerland.
Mathews joins Zurich from American International Group where most recently he was responsible for extended warranty products in Latin America and before that for the delivery and servicing of those products in markets outside North America. Prior to that, he worked with General Motors Europe based in Germany. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester and a master’s degree from New York University.
