Lloyd’s Opens Polish Office

March 2, 2009

Lloyd’s has opened its new representative office in Poland with a reception attended by over 80 people from the local and international insurance community, including brokers, managing agents and risk managers.

Polish regulators issued a license for Lloyd’s to write business in the country last year.

The office, in Warsaw, will be run by Lloyd’s Polish Representative, Witold Janusz, “who,” Lloyd’s said, “has been building relationships with the regulatory authorities and developing business in the region since March 2008.”

Jose Ribeiro, Director, International Markets, commented: “Poland is one of the largest non-life insurance markets in Eastern Europe so we are delighted to be cementing our presence in Warsaw. With opportunities growing substantially, we look forward to a long and healthy future in the region.”

Janusz added: “Lloyd’s is a household name with a worldwide reputation for specialist insurance, and establishing an office in Poland will further develop opportunities in the country and across Eastern Europe.”
