Starr Insurance Cos. announced the appointment of Carsten Nawrath as Aviation underwriting manager, leading the build-out of a new Aviation insurance operation based in Munich, Germany. The operation will write aerospace and general aviation business for clients across Central Europe.
Nawrath joins Starr from Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, where most recently he served as head of General Aviation and Aerospace for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and prior to that as head of underwriting for Aerospace. He has also served Swiss Re as senior product manager for Aerospace and as a client manager in Aviation. He began his insurance career with GE Insurance Solutions in 2003 as an aviation underwriter and risk specialist after several years as a German Air Force instructor and scientific officer.
Nawrath will report directly to Joost Vink, head of Europe for Starr.
