More than 100 dogs displaced by Hurricane Ike will soon be awaiting new families in Minnesota.
The Animal Humane Society received 59 dogs in the Twin Cities on October 1 and expects to get another 60 in the next week or so.
Spokeswoman Laurie Brickley says the dogs will need a recovery period before they begin going up for adoption around October 11 or 12.
Northwest Airlines agreed to carry the dogs on flights out of Houston.
