One of three brothers accused of cashing annuity checks that were supposed to end when their parents died has pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and money laundering.
Forty-six-year-old Donald Tremain Jr. of Kentwood entered the pleas Monday in a federal courtroom in Grand Rapids. He faces up to five years in prison when sentenced.
Prosecutors say the brothers collected $400,000 from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. by concealing the 1990 death of Donald Tremain Sr. and the 1995 death of Carol Tremain.
