Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor announced that Patricia Young, of Piqua, was sentenced to three years of community control and 17 months incarceration (suspended) in Miami County Common Pleas Court for insurance fraud.
“Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime,” Taylor said. “It takes a personal toll on many and increases the cost of insurance at the same time. We remain committed in our partnerships with law enforcement.”
A joint investigation by the Department and the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office found that Young filed false information to support alleged losses stemming from a claim valued at more than $60,000 after a fire at her residence.
