On average, home and auto insurance premiums in Ohio remain among the lowest in the country, the insurance department says.
The Ohio Department of Insurance reported that a recent analysis shows the average homeowners insurance policy costs Ohioans $862 annually, the ninth lowest among all the states. Ohio ranks 13th for auto insurance, with an average of $778 per year for auto coverage. The numbers were derived from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners data from 2017, the most recent year available.
The national averages for homeowners and auto insurance are $1,211 and $1,005, respectively. The combined average savings for Ohioans is $576 below the combined national averages, the department said.
