The new board members of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association must include three members who live in coastal counties, three members who live at least 100 miles from the coast, and three insurance industry representatives who write and renew windstorm and hail insurance along the Gulf Coast, according to provisions of Senate Bill 900, which was passed by the state Legislature earlier this year.
Texas Insurance Commissioner David Mattax appointed a new slate of board members that conforms to those provisions. Terms of the new members began on Oct. 1. They are:
- Blair Crossan of Addison is regional vice president for Nationwide Insurance with more than 15 years of experience in the Texas market.
- Joshua Fields of Harlingen is the vice president of Shepard Walton King Insurance Group. He holds the certified insurance counselor (CIC) designation from the National Alliance.
- Michael Gerik of McGregor is executive vice president for Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Co. and has worked in the property/casualty insurance industry for 35 years.
- Scott Kesner of El Paso is president of Century 21 The Edge and chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors.
- Ronald Lawson of Allen is vice president of marketing for Republic Underwriters Insurance Company with almost three decades of experience in property and casualty insurance.
- Georgia Neblett of Port Aransas is director of external affairs for The University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute and a member of the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce Tourist Bureau.
- Tony Schrader of Round Rock is a former deputy commissioner with the Iowa Department of Insurance and the Texas State Board of Insurance.
- Bryan Shofner of Lubbock is senior vice president of MHBT, an independent insurance broker, and a former president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas.
- Chandra Womack of Dickinson is president of Aran & Franklin Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer specializing in windstorm and structure design. She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
