West Virginia officials announced that a Raleigh County woman pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining workers’ compensation benefits exceeding $3,800.00.
On May 15, 2007, a Raleigh County Grand Jury indicted Angel M. Delung, 34, of Shady Springs, W. Va., on one felony count of wrongfully seeking workers’ compensation and one felony count of obtaining goods by false pretenses.
Delung pleaded guilty last month to the second count and guilty to a reduced charge on the first count of wrongfully seeking workers compensation.
Delung fraudulently filed a false claim against her employer at the time, Beaver Creek Antiques LLC. Upon the entering of the pleas, Delung was immediately sentenced to a term from one year to no more than 10 years in prison on the second count of the indictment.
On the reduced charge of wrongfully seeking workers compensation, Delung was sentenced to a term of one year in a regional jail and fined $2,500. Both sentences are to run concurrently.
