Damage assessments are taking place in the 10 West Virginia counties that were drenched by torrential rain and flooding last week.
The assessments started on July 16 and are being conducted jointly by state emergency preparedness officials and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin declared a state of emergency for the following counties: Braxton, Clay, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo, Nicholas, Putnam, Roane, Webster and Wood.
The West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is encouraging residents, businesses and nonprofit organizations in the 10 counties to report damages to their county offices of emergency management.
