Weather officials say they’re still assessing the effects of a tornado that touched down in Alabama over the weekend.
The National Weather Service said Monday that a storm survey team had found preliminary evidence of a tornado that touched down Sunday night in southern Jefferson County near Bessemer.
Surveyors said they estimated the storm had top winds of 75 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, some trees were uprooted or snapped, and the storm also caused some structural damage to homes and vehicles.
Officials said the tornado was the 100th to be documented in Jefferson County since 1950.
