A statewide task force targeting drunken drivers on the July 4th holiday led to more than 100 arrests.
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety says 33 of the 108 arrests were for extreme DUI. That’s when drivers had blood-alcohol levels at double or more than the state’s legal limit of .08 percent.
In all, almost 460 task force officers stopped nearly 4,400 drivers Wednesday. More than 1,200 of the drivers received citations for speeding or other non-DUI offenses.
