Utah officials say they’ve come to a tentative $5.35 million settlement with Chevron after a pipeline leaked about 20,000 gallons of diesel fuel in northern Utah earlier this year.
Chevron officials did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment Tuesday.
The Utah Division of Water Quality and the Division of Utah State Parks and Recreation announced Tuesday that members of the public can review and comment on the draft proposal until mid-January.
It also includes a $350,000 civil penalty and $550,000 for damages.
Division of Water Quality Director Walt Baker says Chevron will also be responsible for cleaning up any additional contamination discovered in the future.
