A Southern California fire destroyed six homes and damaged seven others in a blaze that was reportedly ignited by fireworks.
The Hawarden Fire started over the weekend and at one point threatened nearly 1,500 homes. Evacuation orders were issued for more than 2,500 residents.

The fire in Riverside County blaze grew to 527 acres and is now 40% contained, according to CalFire.
It’s one of several fires burning across the state.
The Lake Fire in Santa Barbara County is the state’s biggest at 38,664 acres. It is 90% contained. The Trout Fire in Tulare County is 24,781 acres and 5% contained. The Shelley Fire is 15,477 acres and is 55% contained, according to CalFire.

So far this year the agency reports 270,278 acres burned in 4,213 wildfires and 158 structures destroyed, with the official start to California’ wildfire season still months away.
